What the USMLE actually tests
Most candidates prepare for the USMLE the same way they prepared for medical school — by accumulating knowledge. More Anki cards. More Pathoma. More First Aid.
That's not wrong. But it's incomplete.
The USMLE doesn't test what you know. It tests how you think. Every question is a clinical vignette — a moment with its own anatomy: a chief complaint, a progression, hidden clues, distractors, and a single decision point. Most candidates read the vignette. The best ones dissect it.
